Picking the right glove may seem like a simple task, but it’s a process that requires your attention because choosing the size of the glove not just affects your safety but the efficiency and flexibility to perform tasks. The glove you buy depends a lot on the need for which you’re buying them and whether they are a good fit for the size of your hand. An excellent step is to refer to the size chart before you make a purchase. To help you out, we’ve included a step-by-step glove sizing guide in this blog to make the task easier for you.
Glove Sizing Process
Gloves, whether for work or not, need to be the right fit for them to be comfortable. Glove sizing can be more complex than you expect, therefore we’ve come up with a step-by-step guide.
1. Measure Around:
Use a measuring tape and wrap it around the widest part of your palm, excluding the thumb. Remember to always use your dominant hand for measurements.
2. Measure Length-wise:
Once you know the measurement around the palm, use an inching tape to measure length, from the tip of the middle finger to the base of the palm, from where your wrist begins.
3. Round-up the larger number:
Now that you have two measurements, you need to choose the largest of the two numbers to get the right glove size. The number of measurements equals the size of the glove, e.g. measurement of 5 inches means your glove size is 5. If the number is in decimal points, round it up to a larger number, e.g. if your measurement is 5.5 inches, round-off to 6 inches, that will be the measurement for your size.
Glove Size Conversion Chart
In a lot of places, the size chart includes S, M, L, and XL for measurements instead of inches. Here, you need to be aware of converting your measurements to choose the right fit. The guide for converting these measurements is:
Men’s Size
- Extra Small: 7½ inches and smaller
- Small: 7½–8½ inches
- Medium: 8½–9½ inches
- Large: 9½–10½ inches
- XL: 10½–11½ inches
- XXL: 11½ inches and larger
Women’s Size:
- Extra Small: 6½ inches and smaller
- Small: 6½–7 inches
- Medium: 7–7½ inches
- Large: 7½–8 inches
- XL: 8 inches and larger
- XXL: N/A
